About Nikki
It’s nice to meet you!
Nikki Ponte is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) registered to practice in Ontario, Canada. She earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from McMaster University, where she received both the McMaster SLP Entrance Award and the Clinical Achievement Award in recognition of her excellence in clinical practice. In 2025, Nikki was honoured with the McMaster Speech-Language Pathology Distinguished Alumni Award for her contributions to community leadership, clinical education, and service to the profession.
Nikki currently works as a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist with the Halton District School Board, where she supports students with a wide range of communication needs through consultation, assessment, and intervention. In addition to her clinical work, she serves as a Part-Time Faculty Member in the School of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University, where she teaches and mentors future Speech-Language Pathologists through problem-based learning, clinical supervision, and graduate-level course instruction.
Her private practice is a passion project built on the belief that meaningful relationships and individualized care create the strongest outcomes. Through one-on-one therapy and close collaboration with families, Nikki provides evidence-based assessment and intervention tailored to each child's unique strengths, challenges, and goals. She is deeply committed to lifelong learning and completes more than 300 hours of professional development annually to ensure her clients receive current, research-informed care.
Before becoming an SLP, Nikki enjoyed a successful career as a professional singer and performer, touring throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe as both a solo recording artist and musical theatre performer. In 2015, she founded The Fairytale Factory, a children's theatre company that produced interactive performances across the Greater Toronto Area for six years. Today, she continues to perform with many of the GTA’s popular wedding and events bands, and draws upon her extensive performance background to create engaging, dynamic, and motivating therapy experiences for children.
Nikki considers it a privilege to support children and families as they build communication skills, confidence, and meaningful connections with the world around them.
